Help & answers
Whether you’re looking for weekly driving lessons, an intensive driving course, help finding a driving test, or information about learning to drive, you’ll find answers to our most commonly asked questions below.
This depends on your availability, budget and learning goals. Many learners choose one lesson per week, whilst others prefer multiple lessons each week or an intensive course to make faster progress. We will be happy to discuss the most suitable option for your circumstances.
Oxford Intensive Driving School is an Oxford-based driving school offering automatic and manual driving lessons. We provide flexible weekly lessons, intensive driving courses, Pass Plus, refresher lessons, assessment lessons, mock tests, and driving test preparation across Oxford and nearby areas.
Our lessons are tailored to your experience, goals, and availability, helping you build confidence, develop safe driving skills, and prepare for your driving test.
Oxford Intensive Driving School specialises in intensive driving courses designed to help learners make rapid progress in a short period of time. Whether you're a complete beginner or already have some driving experience, our structured training programmes are tailored to your ability and goals.
Because our instructors deliver intensive courses on a regular basis, they are experienced in helping learners progress efficiently and make the most of every lesson. We also bring this expertise to our weekly lessons, where we provide a faster learning experience than the traditional lesson structure used by many driving schools.
We offer both automatic and manual driving lessons, giving learners the flexibility to choose the training that best suits their needs.
Yes. Before you can start driving lessons on public roads, you must have a valid UK provisional driving licence. If you do not already have a provisional licence, you can apply online through the DVLA before booking your lessons.
Possibly. Eligibility depends on the country that issued your licence and how long you have been living in the UK since you first arrived. If you're unsure, please get in touch and we'll be happy to advise.
No. You can start driving lessons or an intensive course as soon as you have a valid UK provisional driving licence. However, you must pass your theory test before taking your practical driving test, so we generally recommend completing it as early as possible.
Every learner is different, so there is no set number of driving lessons required to pass a driving test. The amount of training needed depends on your previous driving experience, confidence, ability, and how often you practise.
If you're unsure how much training you may need, we can help. An assessment lesson allows us to evaluate your current ability and recommend the most suitable course or lesson plan for your needs.
An intensive driving course is designed to help learners complete their driving training in a shorter period of time than traditional weekly lessons. Rather than spreading lessons over several months, training is organised over a number of days or weeks with longer and more frequent lessons.
This approach helps learners stay focused, maintain momentum, and gain valuable driving experience in a shorter timeframe. Intensive courses can be suitable for complete beginners, partly trained learners, and those looking to prepare for an upcoming driving test.
All of our intensive driving courses include everything needed to help you work towards passing your driving test, including one-to-one tuition with an experienced, qualified driving instructor, a personalised training plan tailored to your experience, goals, and availability, and ongoing support throughout your course.
If you do not already have a driving test booked, we can also advise you on the quickest ways to secure a suitable test date and plan your training around it.
The right course depends on your previous driving experience, current skill level, confidence, and how close you are to driving test standard.
If you're unsure which course is right for you, we can help. We strongly recommend booking an assessment lesson, which allows one of our experienced instructors to evaluate your driving, identify any areas for improvement, and recommend the most suitable course based on your individual needs and goals.
An assessment lesson can help ensure you choose the right amount of training, avoiding the cost of booking too many or too few hours and giving you a clearer understanding of what is required to reach test standard.
